Breakfast with a View at the Duck & Waffle…
Most visitors to London are inclined to go for a spin on the London Eye. This is better. Duck & Waffle on the 40th floor of the Heron Tower in the City provides the view AND a spectacular spread. On a recent visit to my favourite city we had brunch there, and as ever – it didn’t disappoint.
Save your £30. Don’t visit the giant ferris wheel on the South Bank. Instead, invest it in a delicious meal. The duck egg en cocotte from their breakfast menu is the stuff dreams are made of, and they make a mean bloody mary to boot. Executive chef Dan Doherty‘s modern menu is adventurous without being snooty. It’s a carnivorous delight, but there is something for everyone.
Be sure to book ahead. I’ve been several times, and there is nary an empty seat. Especially at dinner. Open 24 hours, you’ll surely be able to find time to indulge at this gem in the sky.
Sushi Samba, by the same owners is located a floor below and both restaurants lobby area has a bit of a grungy feel. A bar you can encircle and panoramic views are the perfect way to wait to be seated.
