Follow Up Friday
The first working Friday of 2015…
Every year a slew of posts regarding New Years Resolutions appear on almost every blog, everywhere! Instead of writing my own, I thought I’d share some of the many I’ve stumbled across. Have you made that fateful list yet, or are you resisting the urge this year? If you’ve seen any good suggestions out there, let me know in the comments.
Cupcakes & Cashmere Laments Realistic Goal Setting…
Emily Schuman, creator of Cupcakes & Cashmere is on the eve of a big change – the birth of a baby girl! Her post regarding the year ahead isn’t about losing weight or spending less. Instead she’s being real with herself, and discusses setting goals, being present and accepting help. All sage words!

A Cup of Jo Asks: Do or Don’t?
Joanna Goddard notes that she still bites her nails, and hasn’t stopped dressing like a 10 year old boy despite making resolutions in the past. She’s turning a new leaf this year, with a new perspective on resolutions. She included this really great quote by Amy Poehler:
I am a firm believer that every few years one needs to shake one’s life through a sieve, like a miner in the Yukon. The gold nuggets remain. The rest falls through like the soft earth it is.
This is the year to shake it up people!
The Future of A Beautiful Mess…
Elsie and Emma over at a A Beautiful Mess have kept their readers in mind with their post. They’ve gone through their goals and plans for their business and how it will affect their readers – highlighting achievements and commenting on things they see as areas of improvement. Personally, I can’t wait to see what they have up their sleeves!
Design Love Fest’s 10 Resolutions…
Bri is one cool lady. Her life is full of colour and creativity. She’s had a transformative year and was brave enough to document it all on her blog, Design Love Fest. I’m a frequent visitor for a bit of a pick me up — it’s the place to go for new desktop wallpaper! Her New Years post is a list of ten resolutions. The first and last are really great:
1. more alone time. i am a very social person. i like to be around people. but i’m also learning how to love alone time as well. i want to have more nights to myself, cooking or watching movies, or eating at a restaurant by myself. i’ve been doing this more recently and it’s actually very relaxing.
10. be nice(r) to myself. haven’t really mastered this one yet. but working hard on it.
Writing them all out — in a public sphere is a great idea. There’s an element of accountability to sharing your resolutions with the world.
NYC Taught Me Steals Resolutions…
Sharon writes NYC Taught Me, chronicling her life after moving to the city with her three young children. Her writing is honest and self deprecating, it’s always good for a chuckle. She based her resolutions on an email campaign sent out by the Strand Books highlighting this year’s must-reads. She first confesses:
The only way I clean my house (shown above) or exercise or do any other hateful thing is if I listen to an audio book. It makes me feel like I’m not wasting my life away.
Check out the list she’s made for herself, with links to Strand’s suggestions.

A great selection of resolution posts. Thanks.
