The Cat

Finally! A use for those pretty fashionable cat ears lounging in your wardrobe!

Firstly make-up your face as usual with concealer, any foundation if you use it and powder but make sure to put primer/concealer on your eyelids and conceal your bottom lip. [TIP: put lip balm on then wipe it off before applying a LOT of concealer and powder in layers – you’ll need to touch it up at the end as well. MAC do a nude concealer for your lips that is brilliant instead endlessly applying concealer.]

Contour your cheekbones and highlight the forehead, straight down the bridge of the nose, top of cheekbones and above your top lip.

[OPTIONAL: I filled in her eyebrows and added little flicks on the arch. To turn this into a fox use browns instead of black. Simples!]

Now for the Cat’s Eye flick, liquid liner is best but you can use a pencil to guide you before applying the liquid liner. Use whatever method you are familiar with; personally, I stop a little before the outer edge of the eye and angle the pen to match the angle of my lower eye line and my ears to lightly mark then draw a thicker line smoothly on – it helps keep both eyes symmetrical which is essential when using liquid liner. [I also added a little grey eye shadow to the outer corners of the eyelid just on/under the brow bone and blended towards the inner corner of the eye.]

For the bottom I connected the flick to the outer edge of the lower lash line using the same angle for drawing the flick – just extend it along the lower lashes then just under the lash line smoothly. when you reach the inner corner extend it downward diagonally using your natural tear duct shape as a guide, Extend the top eyeliner to match or meet like  this, this or this – whichever is the most flattering for you! Add white eyeliner on the inner waterline and at the inner corner to cover the space between the upper and lower liner.

Outline and fill in the little triangle at the tip of your nose with black. Don’t extend it down too far on the nostrils and it is flat across the top with the point of the triangle pointing down towards the lips. Draw a thin line down the between your nostrils to the centre of your cupid’s bow. [Warning: causes extreme giggling].

Exaggerate your cupid’s bow so it is quite pointed then outline your top lip, extending it to curl slightly up at the corners. Add some spots, whiskers, maybe draw some dainty fangs on your lips and voila!

For the gents – DO NOT SHAVE. Add some eyeshadow/bronzer similar to the natural colour of your hair along jaw and cheekbones, brown or black eyeliner along the top in same way as for the girls but make it more angular and harsh. Mess up your hair. Roughen eyebrows by fine combing them the wrong way and add some whiskers to the eyebrows. Have an angular triangle nose, don’t curl up the top lip so much and I even suggest drawing on fangs in black and filling them in white. Go for the wolverine look…
