The Tappan Collective founders Chelsea Neman and Jordan Klein met at the University of Michigan.
The artist and art historian studied together in Michigan’s Tappan Fine Arts Library and within those walls, the two developed their understanding and love for art.
After graduation, the Los Angeles natives returned to their homeland and started The Tappan Collective. Realising there was a need for an online platform to promote their talented friends who were fresh out of art school and were struggling to exhibit and sell their artwork. By curating a collection of cutting-edge work, they’ve tapped into local art scenes across the world. Affordable works by the next generation of artists are now available with the click of a button.

The site isn’t just an online retailer. They include studio visits of the artists they feature as well as profiles of collectors. You might recognise the dude below: Jonah Hill. He’s an avid art collector and a Tappan Collective fan, his favourites being: Michael Gittes, Will Robson Scott and Evan Robarts.
Among Jonah Hill’s collection of artwork by Ed Ruscha, Alex Prager and KAWS, he also likes to support emerging artists from The Tappan Collective. Pictured in Jonah’s collection is an original painting by Michael Gittes and Popsicles by Evan Robarts.
The Tappan Collective is an idea I wish I would have came up with. This is definitely a niche in the market – it’s hard to get a hold of affordable original works and this site is so well curated that you’ll want one of everything.
