Canada House reopened this week to much fan-fare, including a Royal visit from Phil and Lizzy. The Toronto Star reports that the refurbed and expanded digs in London’s Trafalgar Square now features a lot more Canadiana, including 29 rugs and carpets created by a Toronto firm that are all inspired by some home-grown fine art heavy hitters. When I was at college in London, the other half of Canada House was a bad Tex-Mex restaurant we used to frequent for happy hour after field trips to the Nat Gal, lets home they’ve updated those acidic walls.
A Hollywood talent agency becomes first in the world to represent artists reports The Art Newspaper. United Talent Ageny has opened a new divison, titled UTA Fine Art, which will be headed by former art lawyer Joshua Roth. Charging a 10% fee to act as the middleman between the artist and their potential client, it’s unclear whether this model will take off.
Oliver Sachs is dying as he lived: brilliantly. The scientist famous to most for his book Awakenings (turned into a film starrting Robin Williams) and articles on unusual neurological disorders in The New Yorker, is now dying of cancer and has chosen to live out the rest of his life as content as he always has been.
