Alexander McQueen’s retrospective opens at the V+A to great fan fair with a star-studded gala in South Kensington last night. Vogue has a great photo gallery, and the V+A have included a sneak peek of the exhibition on their Facebook page. Opening tomorrow, this is the same show that was featured in NYC four years ago with more pieces on display — one not to miss!
Jessica Chastain’s $5m apartment in NYC is a thing of beauty. It’s always fun to see how the other half live, and Jessica certainly has great taste as showcased by Harper’s Bazaar. The former home of composer Leonard Bernstein was just recently purchased by the star and her Italian fashion executive BF and is sure to get even more stylish upgrades soon.

Selling the Family Silver is a last resort: “…it was not something a gentleman would ever do – or not until his creditors were mustering like vultures and he had already sold the horses, the Rolls-Royces and the Canalettos,” writes Max Davidson in The Telegraph. In my previous life, I worked for a Decorative Art auction house in London that sold many canteens of the family silver. It never occurred to me how important and sentimental some of these wares could be, I guess I naively assumed (maybe because I’m Canadian) they were being hocked for more practical reasons: a contemporary update or modern storage issues.
